Celene grew up in extreme poverty.
Tears filled her eyes as she sat across from me in
Toronto, Ontario. "I have been searching all my
life for something to fill the void in my heart. Now I
have a husband, two children, a beautiful home, great
friends, a religion and everything else I want. But, I
still have this void in my life."
There are many empty hearts and
vacant lives. People are scrambling to be
"fulfilled."
They are like a child playing with a
toy designed to teach different shapes. The child picks
up the square piece and tries to jam it into the round
hole. He twists it, pounds it, and forces it until
frustration takes over. Then he tries a different shape,
hoping by chance he will find the missing piece.
People desperately try to fill their
hearts and lives with sports, parties, friends, homes,
cars, portfolios, vacations, religion, and many other
things. Instead of bringing fulfillment, however, all of
their attempts end in frustration and futility. Nothing
completely satisfies.
What is the problem? The child must
understand the round hole before he can find the
matching piece. And adults must stop and examine the
void in their lives before they can find what will truly
satisfy.
Someone has well said, "There is
a God-shaped void in every one of us." The Bible
says, "All things were made by Him and FOR
Him" (Colossians 1:16). Parties, bank accounts,
friends, family and even religion will never fill the
void. You need God!
God’s blueprint is clear: "The
Lord hath made all things for Himself" (Proverbs
16:4). God created you to have a relationship full of
communion and closeness with Him. But this relationship
is conditional upon complete obedience to His Word, the
Bible.
Have you always obeyed God? The Bible
says everyone has disobeyed God in that "all have
sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans
3:23). Wehave used our bodies, hearts, minds, and
emotions for purposes contrary to God’s plan in the
Bible.
The result? Because of your sin, you
have forfeited the close relationship with God for which
you were made. God says, "Your iniquities [sins]
have separated between you and your God" (Isaiah
59:2). Your sins have disqualified you from spiritual
communion with God and eternal closeness in His
presence. In other words, you cannot go to heaven
because of your sins. You will never have the privilege
of a close relationship with God in this life and never
be physically with God in heaven in the next life. You
need to get the problem of your sins taken care
of—now!
But how? God says, "Without
shedding of blood, there is no remission [forgiveness of
sins]" (Hebrews 9:22). This does not mean that you
must offer an animal sacrifice. God, who requires a
sacrifice, has already provided one. God sent His
beloved Son to the cross. The Bible says, "Christ
was once offered to bare [take away] the sins of
many" (Hebrews9:22). Because of the sacrifice of
Christ, God promises, "The blood of Jesus Christ,
His Son, cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
God wants to be your Father, give you
eternal life, and have you in heaven forever with Him.
God offers you His Son. You must trust Him as your
personal Sacrifice and Savior in order to come into all
of this blessing. Have you?
Don’t listen to advertisers! You
don’t need more "things", a new marriage, or
even a fresh religious commitment. Nothing less than
trusting Christ will solve the problem of your sins and
bring you peace, joy, and the guarantee of heaven.
Don’t settle for anything less. Trust Him today!
"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that
hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John
5:12).
